Piet Indoor Stove by Fredrik Hyltén-Cavallius

While I’ve always been a fan of fire, I usually think home decor pieces with open flames look the decor at a cheep asian buffet. Fredrik Hyltén-Cavallius, however, has  recently created the Piet Indoor Stove, which is a beautiful accessory to have around.

Silicon Switches from Normal Design

I love these new Silicon Switches from Normal Design. The switch is hidden beneath a thin layer of silicon to activate the switch, you merely push it in. Really cleaver design and nice to see such an inventive use of materials.

Colander Table by Daniel Rohr

I dont think this table will be winning any environmentalist awards, but Daniel Rohr’s new Colander Table is really fun to look at. The beauty that you see before you was carved out of a 900 pound block of aluminum then 909 holes were drilled into it. There’s a great video after the break that describes the making of the table.

The Yamakoya bookcase by Ben Nagaoka

Tokyo based Ben Nagaoka of Point created a really fun shelving unit for a library called The Yamakoya. Yamakoya means wooden-log cabin in Japanese. He uses some fun shapes to create a little drama in what far too often is a relatively basic piece of furniture.

The Michael Hill Clubhouse by Patterson Associates

Check out these images of The Michael Hill Clubhouse, a golf clubhouse, by Patterson Associates that is located in Wakatipu Basin, New Zealand. It is a brilliantly designed piece of architecture and the surrounding area creates a gorgeous backdrop.
